Collection
A diverse collection of American sheet music spanning the 19th and early 20th centuries, featuring popular songs, patriotic music, ragtime, and parlor songs. The illustrated covers are themselves significant artifacts of American visual culture and commercial art.
About This Collection
Sheet music was a primary medium for popular music distribution before the phonograph era. The illustrated covers reflect prevailing tastes, social attitudes, and printing technologies of their time. This collection is drawn from Temple University Libraries' Special Collections Research Center.
