Collection
Over 200 photographs from the City Parks Association of Philadelphia documenting the city's parks, playgrounds, and recreational spaces from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The Association advocated for urban green spaces as essential to public health and civic life.
About This Collection
The City Parks Association was founded in 1888 to promote the creation and maintenance of parks and playgrounds in Philadelphia. These photographs document their advocacy work, capturing both the idyllic spaces they championed and the crowded neighborhoods that needed them. The collection is held by Temple University Libraries.
